Bayer Leverkusen's Victor Boniface named Bundesliga's August Player of the Month

According to a Bundesliga statement released on Thursday, Boniface was named the winner of the award based on his performances over the first two league games of the season.
Bayer Leverkusen's head coach, Xabi Alonso, could not have asked for a more promising debut from his new center-forward.
The 22-year-old made a spectacular entry into the Bundesliga, contributing to Jeremie Frimpong's opening goal against Leipzig as Bayer Leverkusen secured a resounding 3-2 victory.
Boniface then showcased his finishing abilities by netting twice in a convincing 3-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Notably, Boniface recorded an impressive 14 shots in August, surpassing all other Bundesliga players.
In the second match against Gladbach, he unleashed 11 attempts at Jonas Omlin's goal—equivalent to the total shots Harry Kane managed across Matchdays 1 and 2.
Beyond his scoring abilities, Boniface's relentless work ethic shone through. He contested a league-leading 54 challenges, and his aggressive pressing enabled him to win 43 percent of them. Moreover, his outstanding performances earlier earned him the Rookie of the Month award.
Boniface thus becomes only the second player after Erling Haaland to clinch the Rookie of the Month and Player of the Month in the same month.
Looking ahead, Boniface faces his toughest Bundesliga challenge yet as he leads Bayer Leverkusen against Bayern Munich this Friday. Both teams stand as the only ones to have won all three of their league games this season.
