Super Falcons stars Nnadozie, Payne, Ucheibe reach the UEFA Champions League group stage
Raba
- The Super Falcons trio of Chiamaka Nnadozie, Nicole Payne, and Christy Ucheibe were on the winning side as their European clubs reached the group stage of the 2023/2024 UEFA Women's Champions League.
Chiamaka Nnadozie delivered another excellent showing to help Paris FC beat Wolfsburg [0-2] at the AOK Stadion and secure a [5-3] aggregate triumph.
Wolfsburg were the happier side last week as they held the French ladies to a [3-3] draw in Paris in the first leg of the playoffs.
Nnadozie saved a second-half penalty as goals from Julie Dufour and Louise Fleury handed Paris FC the win they needed on Wednesday night to send two-time European champions, Wolfsburg, out of the competition.
At the Parc des Princes in France, Nicole Payne watched the entire action from the bench as Paris Saint-Germain claimed a [3-1] win over Manchester United.
The two teams played out a [1-1] draw in England last week, but a brace from PSG's Lieke Martens and another effort from Sandy Baltimore rendered Lisa Naalsund's goal for Manchester United a mere formality.
At the Futebol Campus in Seixal, Christy Ucbeibe came off the bench to round off the scoring for Benfica in their big [4-0] win over Apollon Limassol.
Benfica, who defeated the same opponents [7-0] last week, were already two goals up by the time Ucheibe was introduced in the 70th minute to replace Anna Gasper.
Canada's Marie Alidou added a third a minute later before Ucheibe struck the game's last goal in the 78th minute. It is her first goal of the 2023/2024 season
Paris FC, Benfica, and Paris Saint-Germain will know their group-stage opponents when the UWCL draw is made on Friday October 20.
