Wolfsberger snap up Samson Tijani
Raba
- Wolfsberger AC have secured the services of Samson Tijani, who has signed on for a season-long loan from Red Bull Salzburg.
Tijani initially made waves in 2020 when he joined Salzburg after a standout performance at the 2019 Under-17 World Cup. The 21-year-old captained the Golden Eaglets in the competition, although they were eliminated in the round of 16.
Despite his promising start, Tijani's tenure at Salzburg has been less than stellar, with only five appearances for the Austrian Bundesliga champions.
With playing time hard to come by at Salzburg, the defensive midfielder has taken in two loan spells at Hartberg and SV Liefering.
Tijani has not had his fair share of luck and suffered a long-term injury that kept him sidelined for a significant part of last season.
However, he made a pleasant return to the pitch during Salzburg's pre-season campaign this summer, featuring in their 4-3 defeat to Inter Milan. Still, it appears that Tijani will have to bide his time for a more prominent role within the squad.
The next chapter in Tijani's career sees him embarking on a season-long loan stint with Wolfsberger AC, another Bundesliga outfit.
Wolfsberger AC, while not among the league's top contenders, maintains a consistent presence in the Austrian top flight since 2011, finishing 7th in the league playoffs last season.
Tijani's contract with Red Bull Salzburg remains in effect until the summer of 2025.
