FC Zurich snap up Nigeria's U-20 star Umeh Emmanuel

Emmanuel, who played for Nigeria's under-20 team at the FIFA U-20 World Cup last year, has agreed to a five-year contract with the Swiss club. The financial details of the transfer were not revealed.
Before moving to Bulgaria, Emmanuel played for Russian club Vista Gelendzhik. He started his career at the Right2Win Football Academy in Nigeria.
During his time at Botev Plovdiv, Emmanuel made his professional debut on October 15, 2022, in a 3-1 win against Pirin. He scored his first professional goal on March 4, 2023, securing a 2-1 victory over Cherno More.
This year, Emmanuel was instrumental in Botev Plovdiv's triumph in the Bulgarian Cup, the club's first major trophy since 2017.
At the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina, Emmanuel played in all five of Nigeria's matches. Although he didn't score, he provided two assists as Nigeria reached the quarter-finals, where they were eliminated by South Korea.
