One-time Latvian champions FK Liepāja have announced the signing of Nigerian midfielder Luqman Gilmore on a free transfer.
FK Liepāja made the announcement on their official channels after completing the paperwork around the signing and unveiling their new capture on Instagram.
A tireless defensive midfielder who can also operate as a full-back, Gilmore had spent the last five years in the top division in Georgia playing for the likes of FC Imereti, Dinamo Tbilisi, FK Zugdidi, and Samgurali.
Gilmore's two-year stay at Samgurali, however, came to an end on January 1 after the Tsqaltubo-based club decided against extending his contract.
The 26-year-old midfielder will hope to make an instant impact for FK Liepāja and lead the club to glory in the new season of the Latvian Higher League.
Last year, FK Liepāja finished fourth on the ten-team league table, ending the campaign a massive 15 points behind champions Valmiera.
FK Liepāja have not celebrated a league title win since becoming the Virslīga champions in 2015 - just a year after the club was formed.
The Daugava Stadium landlords have, however, won the Latvian Football Cup twice, their most recent triumph coming in 2020 when they beat Ventspils in a dramatic final played at the Ventspils Olimpiskais Stadions.
