- Through official channels, Lazio have confirmed the signing of Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
- The 23-year-old attacking midfielder joins the Italian Serie A club from Turkish side Hatayspor.
Dele-Bashiru began his career at Manchester City Academy but moved to Sheffield Wednesday in 2020 after failing to break into City's first team.
His career took off at Hatayspor, where he scored eight goals and provided five assists in 36 games last season, helping the club to a 15th-place finish in the Turkish Super Lig.
Lazio have been linked with Dele-Bashiru throughout the summer, and on Friday, reports emerged that he had arrived in Italy for a medical.
The transfer was completed on Saturday, with Dele-Bashiru joining on a season-long loan with a compulsory purchase clause. The deal could be worth up to €7 million and may extend until 2028.
Dele-Bashiru is following in the footsteps of fellow Nigerians Ogenyi Onazi and Stephen Makinwa, who previously played for Lazio.
Despite being born in England, Dele-Bashiru chose to represent Nigeria and made his debut for the Super Eagles in a friendly against Mozambique in October 2023.
He earned his second cap last month, scoring the equaliser in a 1-1 draw against South Africa in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.
