The first edition of the #ETAwards kicked off yesterday on our social media, with the announcement of the first ever Nigerian Team of the Season presented by EaglesTracker.
A selection of the Most Outstanding Nigerian Footballers from around the globe, based on performances in the 2019/2020 league season.

Goalkeeper: Daniel Akpeyi (Kaizer Chiefs)

Daniel Akpeyi had a bit of a mixed season for Kaizer Chiefs, however, he just beats Sebastian Osigwe to a spot in our Team of the Season.
Left Back: Ola Aina (Torino)

Ola Aina had a good season in the Series A, with Torino. He narrowly beat SC Paderborn's Jamilu Collins to a spot in our Team of the Season.
Centre-Back: William Troost Ekong (Udinese)

🛡 Clearances: 4.3 per game
The Super Eagles defender had a fine season with Udinese in the Italian Serie A, producing consistent performances on their way to a 13th place finish.
Centre Back: Semi Ajayi (West Bromwich Albion)

Semi Ajayi was one of the stand-out performers for West Brom in a fantastic EFL Championship campaign that saw them regain promotion to the English Premier League.

A more unknown name in defence, Godswill Ekpolo was consistently impressive for BK Hacken in the Swedish Allsvenskan.

MIDFIELD
Defensive Midfielder: Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City)

A rock as always in the heart of midfield, Wilfred Ndidi was amazing for Leicester City in their impressive 2019/2020 campaign which saw them narrowly miss out on the Champions League.
Centre-Midfield: Alhassan Yusuf (IFK Goteborg)

Alhassan Yusuf was an impact player for his side, IFK Goteborg during the course of the season where he picked up the league's 'Newcomer of the Year' award.

'Super' Frank Onyeka was fantastic for FC Midtjylland all season, picking up the club's player of the year award as they cruised to the Danish league title and Champions League qualification.

OFFENSE
Forward: Simy Nwankwo (FC Crotone)

🥇 Serie B Golden Boot winner
Simeon 'Simy' Nwankwo was fantastic all season. he picked up the golden boot award in the Italian Series B with 20 goals scored while helping Crotone secure promotion to the Serie A.
Forward: Asisat Oshoala (FC Barcelona Femeni)

'Superzee' continued in her usual standard this season. She was impressive for Barcelona as they secured a league and cup double before falling to a Champions League semifinal defeat.
Victor Osimhen (LOSC Lille)

Victor Osimhen without a doubt makes our Team of the Season as striker. The 21-year old had a breakout season with LOSC Lille in the French Ligue 1, which recently earned him a Nigerian record move to SSC Napoli.
