SUPER EAGLES SEEK FOURTH AFRICAN TITLE ON LION'S TURF
Cuota
Having finished third at the 2013 edition in South Africa, and boasting a record of 4 runners up medals, 8 bronze medals, the Super Eagles will be gunning to better their performance when they begin their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations campaign against Egypt on Tuesday.
The team will be led by interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen, not forgetting the newly appointed Head Coach; Jose Peseiro will serve as an observer.
A couple of notable players missed out from the squad due to injuries, covid restrictions and refusal of release from their clubs. Ahmed Musa, a player who holds the highest number of National team appearances (103) will captain the team, deputed by Troost Ekong, with a few tournament debutants coming in.
For the super Eagles, this might seem like a tough ask playing one of the African powerhouses for their first group match, in the Egyptian team, with creative, tricky, talented players like Salah, Trezeguet amongst others and also losing out on 4 of the team's best in-form attacking options, but then the pace, flair and tricky act of Iheanachö, Musa, Ejuke and Chukwueze might as well wreak havoc to the Egyptian backline
Best wishes to the team ahead of their opener on Tuesday, 11th January 2022 at the Stade Roumdé Adjia, Garoua, Cameroon by 17.00hrs
