Super Eagles: Daniel Amokachi is Finidi George's assistant coach

- The Nigeria Football Federation has unveiled Finidi George as the new Super Eagles coach, two weeks after announcing his appointment.
- Present at the unveiling ceremony were NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau and Sports Minister, Senator John Owan Enoh.
While Finidi's appointment was made official at the event, the former Ajax winger also used the opportunity to reveal the identity of his assistants.
Finidi's first assistant his former fellow international and two-time Super Eagles assistant coach, Daniel Amokachi.
Amokachi and Finidi were both in the Nigeria squad that won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia and reached the knockout rounds of that year's World Cup in the United States. The two attackers scored three of Nigeria's seven goals at the Mundial.
Former Shooting Stars player Benjamin James, who is based in Germany, was announced as Finidi's second assistant.
Finidi will also work with Mehmet Ozturk, who is a match analyst while Netherland-based Chima Onyeike will be the Super Eagles' fitness trainer.
Meanwhile, Olatunji Baruwa, who worked with Jose Peseiro, returns as the goalkeeper trainer.
According to reports, Finidi has been handed a two-year contract and the former Real Betis ace will earn 15 million naira monthly.
Finidi will look to help Nigeria qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the Super Eagles scheduled to face South Africa and the Benin Republic next month.
Nigeria’s squad list for both games is expected to be released in the coming days.
