- After winning the night's biggest prize, the 2023 Player of the Year award, Victor Osimhen was also named in the African Men's Team of the Year.
- The Napoli striker is the only Nigerian player to make it into the continent's Best Eleven for 2023.
In goal is Cameroon's Andre Onana, while the trio of Achraf Hakimi, Chancel Mbemba, and Kalidou Koulibaly were stationed in defence. The midfield had Thomas Partey, Andre-Frank Anguissa, Mohammed Kudus, and Sofyan Amrabat.
In attack, Osimhen is flanked by Sadio Mane and Mo Salah.
However, three Nigerian players made it into the Women's Team of the Year.
Houston Dash defender, Michelle Alozie is Africa's best right-back, while Osinachi Ohale deserved her spot in the heart of the defence.
Asisat Oshoala, who clinched her record-extending six Africa Women's Player of the Year award, slotted into the center-forward role.
Strangely, Paris FC shot-stopper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, who earlier won the inaugural Best Goalkeeper award, did not make the Best XI team.
Nnadozie made several stunning saves in Australia this year, including a penalty against Canada, to help Nigeria seal the record as the first African team to avoid defeat in regulation time at the World Cup finals.
