Iheanacho and Ndidi are back in the Premier League with Leicester City

  • Leicester City Football Club has gained automatic promotion back to the English Premier League a year after getting relegated from the top flight.
  • The Foxes secured their place among the elite clubs in the country without kicking a ball on Friday following Leeds United FC's shocking [4-0] loss at Queens Park Rangers.

The race to finish in the Championship's promotion places has been fought hard by three clubs: Leicester City, Leeds United, and Ipswich Town.

And following their [5-0] victory over Southampton on Tuesday, Leicester City knew a win at Preston North End next Monday or a Leeds United defeat on Friday night would be enough to guarantee a swift return to the EPL.

QPR received the memo, though, and got the job done for the Foxes, scoring twice on either side of the halftime break.

Leicester City boasts 94 points from 44 games, with only Ipswich Town capable of matching the Foxes in number of points this term.

It is a swift return to the Premier League for Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi, who decided to stay in the Championship with Leicester City when the club was relegated last year.

Despite enjoying limited playing time, Iheanacho contributed five goals and an assist in 22 appearances in the league for the Foxes.

On the other hand, Ndidi made a bigger impact in the Foxes' promotion campaign, notching four goals and five assists in 30 matches.

Interestingly, the contract of both Ndidi and Iheanacho will expire this summer, with Leicester City looking increasingly likely to lose the Super Eagles stars on a free transfer.

However, Leicester's return to the Premier League could convince Ndidi and Iheanacho to have a change of mind and ink new contracts with the Foxes.

Leicester City's promotion to the Premier League joins the FA Cup win in 2021 as Ndidi and Iheanacho's most memorable moment for the East Midlands club.
