Nigeria's Super Falcons were outclassed 1-0 by Mexico early on Thursday morning inside the Leon Stadium to begin their Women's Revelation Cup challenge on a losing note.

The Falcons missed the services of in-form Barcelona striker, Asisat Oshoala, the leading goalscorer in the Spanish Primera Division Femenina.

But the former African champion still packed a punch in attack, with striker Ifeoma Onumonu being supported by Francesca Ordega and Atletico Madrid ace, Rasheedat Ajibade.

However, the Falcons failed to produce the quality on the opposite end, allowing Kiana Palacios's goal five minutes from time to give Mexico the win over Nigeria in the first meeting between the two countries.

The defeat to Mexico is the Super Falcons' sixth-consecutive loss in all competitions since losing on penalties to Morocco in the semifinals of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations last year.

The Nigerian ladies will get the chance to correct their mistakes when they play their second match of the four-nation tournament against Costa Rica on Tuesday.
