Super Falcons' Asisat Oshoala earns nomination for Women's Ballon D'Or 2022

  • Oshoala won the Pichichi award in Spain for her 20 league goals during the 2021/2022 season.
  • The 27-year old forward won her record-breaking fifth African Women's Player of the Year award in July 2022
  • She played only one game of WAFCON 2022 after suffering a knee injury

Super Falcons and FC Barcelona Femini star, Asisat Oshoala has been nominated for the prestigious 2022 Ballon D'Or award.

Oshoala is amongst the 20 players nominated for this well sought-after award that for many fans, determines the best player in the world for the past year.

The Lagos-born forward scored 20 league goals in 19 league games in 2021/2022 to clinch the Pichichi award for first time in her career, as Barcelona claimed another Spanish Primera Iberdrola title.

Oshoala, who recently launched her football academy back home in Nigeria, becomes the first Nigerian female footballer in history to be nominated for the Ballon D'Or award.

She's the only African woman nominated this year.
