- The former FC Porto defender is on a scoring roll, and he could enter the Croatian side's record books
Super Eagles centre-back, Chidozie Collins Awaziem is one goal away from becoming the joint highest-scoring defender for a single season in the history of HNK Hajduk Split.
Awaziem netted his third goal for Hajduk Split in the club's dramatic 2-1 win over Varazdin on Saturday.
The Nigeria international's stoppage-time winner takes him closer to a 30-year club record held by former Croatian defender, Slaven Bilic.
Only Bilic, who is currently manager of English Championship side Watford, has scored four goals for Hajduk Split as a defender since Croatia gained independence in the early nineties.
Bilic achieved the feat during the 1992-1993 Croatian league season.
Awaziem could match that record with another goal for the Whites.
The 25-year-old centre-back's three goals have come in games against NK Lokomotiva, HNK Rijeka, and NK Varazdin.
It is also a career-high number of goals for Awaziem, who previously starred for Porto, Nantes, Leganes, Alanyaspor, and Boavista.
Awaziem joined Hajduk Split from Boavista on a loan transfer for the rest of the campaign and has already made eight appearances for the Whites.
