Coach Bankole Olowookere Names 35 Players for Nigeria's U17 Women's World Cup Campaign

- The team, led by Coach Bankole Olowookere, aims to build on their impressive qualifying record, where they scored 25 goals in six matches, and make a strong impression in the tournament, which takes place from October 16 to November 3.
The Nigerian U17 girls' football team, the Flamingos, has commenced its final preparations for the 8th FIFA U17 Women's World Cup, scheduled to take place in the Dominican Republic later this year. Head Coach Bankole Olowookere has invited 35 talented players to the team's camp, marking the first phase of their preparations.
The Flamingos have already made a statement in the qualifying series, scoring an impressive 25 goals in six matches. They routed the Central African Republic with six goals in each leg, dismissed Burkina Faso 7-1 on aggregate, and turned back Liberia 6-1 on aggregate.
Leading the pack of invitees is Harmony Chidi, the extraordinary poacher who set a jaw-dropping record of 13 goals in the qualifying series. She is joined by her strike partner Peace Effiong, team captain Taiwo Afolabi, goalkeeper Chrstiana Uzoma, and defender Prisca Nwachukwu.
The 8th FIFA U17 Women's World Cup finals will be staged in the cities of Santiago de los Caballeros and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic from October 16 to November 3. Nigeria is grouped alongside the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and New Zealand in Group A.
