- Reigning champions of the Czech Fortuna Liga, Sparta Prague have bolstered their squad with the signing of Victor Olatunji.
- Olatunji joins Sparta Prague from FC Slovan Liberec on a multi-year deal as a replacement for Tomáš Čvančara, who recently made a move to the German top flight.
Olatunji's journey to Sparta Prague began when he spent the previous year on loan at FC Slovan Liberec from AEK Larnaca.
Impressing with his performances, Slovan decided to exercise their option on the Nigerian striker, which was reportedly valued at €500,000. However, Olatunji did not return to Liberec as he signed a new contract with Sparta Prague instead.
Sparta's sports director, Tomáš Rosický, highlighted Olatunji's physicality and speed as key attributes that will enhance the team's attacking prowess. The club sees potential in Olatunji's development within their environment, which influenced their decision to bring him on board.
Olatunji's signing is Sparta's fourth acquisition of the summer transfer window, arriving just days before the league's commencement.
The transfer process was not without complications, as Olatunji faced delays in obtaining visas. Initially, he trained individually in Cyprus after facing difficulties in his native Nigeria.
Before joining Sparta Prague, Olatunji had previous stints with Slovakian clubs Inter Bratislava and Podbrezová, as well as Austrian side SV Mattersburg.
