Super Falcons Star Quits Russian Club Lokomotiv Moscow

  • Super Falcons forward Chinonyerem Macleans has ended her two-year stint with Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow.
  • The 24-year-old expressed gratitude for her time at the club, highlighting personal and professional growth during her stay.

Super Falcons forward Chinonyerem MacLeans has bid farewell to Russian Women’s Championship side, League side Lokomotiv Moscow, after a two-year stint at the Club.

The 24-year-old who was part of the Super Falcons squad for the 2024 Summer Olympic games in Paris, made her intentions known via social media expressing gratitude to the club for an eventful spell at the Russian Outfit.

The 2021 Russian Champions recruited the then 21-year-old from Belarusian Women’s top flight side FK Bobruysk following an impressive streak of scoring form which saw her rack up six goals in eight league games for the club at the time.

‘’As I prepare to leave this amazing club, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. She stated

‘’From the moment I joined, I knew I found a special community, and I have been constantly inspired by the passion, dedication and camaraderie that defines us.’’

‘’I have grown so much as a player and as a person during my time here, and I will always cherish the memories, lessons, and friendships I’ve made. From the thrilling victories to the tough defeats, we’ve shared it all, and I’m honored to have been part of it.’’

‘’Thank you to our incredible coaches, staff, and teammates for your guidance, support and encouragements. Thank you for believing in me and pushing me to be my best.’’

‘’As I move on to new challenges, I know that Lokomotiv Moscow will always be a part of me. I’ll carry the value, spirit, and love for the game that we share with me wherever I go.’’ She concluded.

During her time in Russia, the Bayelsa Queens Alumni made thirty-three appearances and netted fourteen goals. She represented Nigeria at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations where the record African queens finished fourth, losing the bronze medal match to Zambia.
