Forgotten Super Eagles midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo has finally settled his future by joining Turkish second-division side Genclerbirligi. This move brings an end to a year of speculation surrounding the midfielder's next club.
The Red and Blacks had been heavily linked with Etebo for some time, and the transfer is now all but complete, with the club officially confirming the transfer.
Despite Nigeria's disappointing group stage exit at the 2018 World Cup, Etebo emerged as a decent performer. He played every minute for the Super Eagles and displayed his dribbling prowess, completing all nine attempted dribbles in their opening defeat to Croatia. This feat earned him the distinction of completing the most dribbles in the 2018 World Cup group stage.
This isn't Etebo's first foray into Turkish football. He previously spent a season on loan at Galatasaray during the 2020-2021 season, making 29 appearances in all competitions for the Istanbul giants.
The 2016 Olympic bronze medalist boasts a diverse club career, having played for Warri Wolves back in Nigeria, as well as Portuguese side Feirense, Spanish outfits Las Palmas and Getafe, English club Watford, and Greek team Aris Thessaloniki.
