Former Rangers' star tips Calvin Bassey for greatness

Gordon Dalziel is of the belief that Calvin Bassey has a lot more to give the Gers on the pitch after working hard to gain a starting berth this season.

Bassey has been with Rangers since the summer of 2020, but he only played a backup role in the squad until now.

In the current campaign, the 22-year-old has developed into a key player for Rangers, and he was recently named the club's Young Player Of The Year.

The former Rangers star is thrilled with Bassey's growth, praising him as a player gifted with exceptional skill who has fulfilled his ambition of being one of the first names on the squad sheet at the club.

Dalziel believes Bassey still has a lot to give the Rangers and knows he will improve with each game.

“What he [Bassey] has achieved this season is that he is a number one pick now, whether it is at left centre-back or left-back and I think that’s what his goal was”, Dalziel said on Clyde1’s Superscoreboard.

“I think he has got a lot left in his locker. I think he will get better the more games you see him.

“He is certainly a player with great ability but I just feel that in the team [PFA Scotland Team Of The Year], looking at it, him or Josip Juranovic, I just think Juranovic is a class act.”

Rangers supporters will be hopeful that under Giovanni van Bronckhorst's cautious eye, Bassey will develop into a mainstay in the defense for years to come.
